Banksy is a British graffiti artist. He is believed to be a native of Yate, near Bristol and to have been born in 1974 but his identity is unknown.
His artworks are incredible satirical pieces of art on topics such as politics, culture, and ethics.
His street art, which combines graffiti writing with a distinctive stencilling technique, is similar to Blek le Rat, who began to work with stencils in 1981 in Paris and members of the anarcho-punk band Crass who maintained a graffiti stencil campaign on the London Tube System in the late 1970s and early 1980s. His art has appeared in cities around the world.

Banksy’s first film, Exit Through The Gift Shop, billed as “the world’s first street art disaster movie”, made its debut at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Here is the trailer :

Teaser “Invicibles” with JL Ratchel

The new project presented by the French production “Garchois Films Production” of Laurent Jamet is a “documentary” ski movie which is called “INVINCIBLES” and which will be presented in première in front of the international freeski scene at the IF3 of Montreal and IF4 of Annecy.
Because of his injury at the beginning of winter, JL and Laurent are setting up sessions shooting for this summer in order to finalize the segment of JL in the movie.

(Français) Hold up du Coreupt.com Young Gun à la finale du JFFT

Le 25 Avril direction Val Thorens avec tout le team young gun pour la finale du Just For Fun Tour, contest de slopestyle sur le beau park de Val Thorens composé de quelques rails et d’un enchaînement de 3 grosses tables.
Les trainings finis, l’organisation décide de faire 2 runs de qualifs et un run de finale pour les 10 meilleurs rideurs.
Les qualifs se déroulent plutôt bien pour tous les rideurs du team, seul Alex Breheret tombe sur son Kangourou lors de son 1er run et ne passe donc pas en finale alors que sont run plaqué lui donnait sûrement une place dans le top du contest . Sinon tout le reste du team se qualifie pour la finale.
Place à la finale: tous le monde sort des runs de fous, avec pour preuve le run de Vincent Chenal avec 2 doubles dans son run !!! (Double Under Flip, Cab 900 et Kangourou où il pose une petite main),
Tom Granier avec un run bien tech et style ( Flat 9 mute, Cab double Flat 9 et Rodeo 7)

Résultat, gros hold up pour le team dont 4 riders se classent dans les 5 premiers avec en vainqueur Tom Granier suivi de très très près par Vincent Chenal, puis de Tom Lesuire qui prend la 4eme place et de Max Gisin terminant à la 5eme place.
Le team Young gun nous prouve que cet hiver il a vraiment progressé, et que ces rideurs seront à suivre ces prochaines années…
Bravo les boys!!!!!

Guerlain has sent us a little message to keep us updated about his trip with Adrien Coirier, Xavier Bertoni and Enak Gavaggio.

‘‘Kamchatka at last, but no phone or internet…We’re staying deep in the mountains, an hour and a half away from the nearest town…Apart from that it’s a totally amazing place with crazy mountains, and the snow is coming tomorrow… Otherwise, to pass the time, we go skidooing, but we’ve already broken two… 8 roll-overs for me yesterday and 1 for Xav today… 15 days is gonna be long… ’’

This weekend, some of the CoreUPT.com team set off for Kamchatka, veritable wilderness peninsula on the far side of Russia. Adrien was the first to arrive, with the rest of the team being stuck in France thanks to general European airport closure. But if one volcano was playing up on this side of the world, another was delighting our Adrien on the other. Here are his very first photos of Vuluchinskiy Volcano; a 2000m plus climb, and more than 5 hours of walking…
We can’t wait for the next installement!

Developments on the MINI front!

Inspired by its partnership with CoreUPT.com, MINI is launching the Country Man, its new crossover vehicule that will bring the town to the mountain and the mountains to town.

To mark the occasion, a big, open air, ‘altitude’ convention was held in Megeve just before the X-Games, where MINI introduced its latest baby to its numerous French dealerships.

Guerlain Chicherit, Richard Permin and Adrien Coirier took to the stage before120 people to present CoreUPT.com and the partnership with MINI that keeps going from strength to strength.

Winter Urban Plagne 2010 !

For this 3rd edition of WUP, just like each year, freestyle, fun and freaky antics abounded ! And for 2010 the organisers decided to add an extra day of competition (4 days instead of 3).

Our Young Gun team was in the place ! Unfortunately, destiny was not on their side … Just 1 hour before handing in the video (which would count for the final rankings) our computer gave up the ghost…May it rest in peace ! Due to this technical incident our Young Gun team was unable to finish in the final rankings. Nonetheless, a big bravo and all our support goes out to them , as the boys were in 3rd place before having to officially pull out of the competition.

But, thanks to a computer that does work, we have received the finished video today, and here it is :

French Half Pipe Ski Championships

These last 2 days the resort of La Plagne, in partnership with the FFS and the FIS, has hosted the French Freestyle Championships. Monday 5th of April saw the Snowboard Slopestyle finals take place, and the Half Pipe finals, for both Snowboard and Ski, have just finished today.

CoreUPT.com was well represented by rookie, Ben VALENTIN, who finished in 3rd place, with the following run : mactwist, unat cork 9, cork 9, air to fakie and to finish, a switch 720.

Ben told us : ‘‘It was a great French Championships, despite a small pipe and a few shape problems. I came in 3rd due to some errors with my unat cork 9, but I’m really pleased ! Congrats to my best mate Thomas (1st) and also a big well done to Joffrey (2nd)’’

Well done Ben !!!

La Meije Derby

With the sun hiding behind a haze of clouds and temperatures still wintery cold, the 1000 contestants took their place on the starting line of the 22nd ‘Derby de la Meije’ this Friday the 2nd of April 2010. The goal being to cover the 2000m descent as quickly as possible for some, and as spectacularly as possible for others. As usual, fancy dress and good humour were on the cards, to delight the watching public of this unusual event.

The CoreUPT.com team once again put on a good show, with two of our riders finishing on the podium ; Fabien MEYNET and Bertrand CLAIR taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Congrats to you both !

A big well done also to Nicolas ANTHONIOZ who took 1st place for the third year in a row.

After 3 days of backcountry skiing, tthe best 13the freestylers of the world have chosen Kye Petersen from Whistler, as the most skier of the Red Bull Cold Rush 2010. It took place from march 16th to 18th, at Retallack Lodge in BC.

Our french rider Richard Permin took the 5th place! Congrats Man !

Candide Freeride World Champion 2010 !!!

Run de Candide Thovex, 3ème à l'Xtreme de Verbier

For his first season on the Freeride World Tour, Candide Thovex could not have hoped for better… After surprising us all with a storming entry on the scene at Chamonix (even if we knew he was strong whatever the terrain), today he has reached the pinnacle of his freeriding career as he takes home the tour title in all its glory.

On paper he needed only to beat the excellent Henrik Windstedt (another skier sprouting from the world of freestyle) in today’s final stage in order to win the title. Nobody imagined that the 2 rivals would tie for 3rd place. (With Kaj Zachrisson in 1st and Aurelien Ducroz in 2nd place today).

But the maths has the final word; the rankings being based on the best 3 results of the 4 stages. Candide is World Champion, in front of Kaj Zachrisson and Henrik Windstedt!

Candide was making no compromises this morning in Verbier. By choosing the riskiest line and riding it with speed and ease, he proved that, well…there was really nothing left to prove. Ok, so he didn’t actually win the mythic Bec des Rosses, but a podium position on a first try (in fact it was the first time Candide had ever skied this face) is pretty good.

So the Freeride World Tour has a new champion, and no mistakes, the discipline as a whole has just taken a major kick up the backside.

All in all, a good day for the Frenchies, which also sees Xavier De la Rue making up for his Olympic plight and taking home the snowboarding title.
